Creation of Truckee Elementary’s new lobby mural underway … and the students are the artists.
Months in the planning, the transformation of our school lobby is underway! Under the guidance of local artist Sara Smith, the entire school community is collaborating on an expansive, green-themed mural that will underscore TES’ identity as the flagship school leading the greening of the Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District.
The first phase of the creation kicked off over Ski/Skate week, thanks to Sara, a host of parent and student volunteers, and donated time and materials from generous community businesses like Easterbrook Painting, Contract Painting and Scott Edmondson Painting.
The best part? Once complete, all students in Truckee Elementary will have made an artistic contribution that reflects what the notion of environmental responsibility means to them. Read on for more on the what, how and why of our school’s exciting new look.

Awesome job and great idea! Thank you
It is inspiring to see an idea becoming a reality. It looks fabulous.
Nice work kids and parents… can’t wait to see the finished project!
Wow! Thanks for bringing the outside into TES! It’s GREAT that the kiddos (and adults) get to see and be part of the whole process.
